  • Hometown: Queens, New York
  • Alma Mater: Hofstra University (BA, 1972)
  • Coached at Holy Trinity Diocesan HS in Hicksville, NY (1973-78) and Long Island Lutheran HS in Brookville, NY (1979-89)
    • Went 86-25 at Holy Trinity and 182-51 at Long Island Lutheran (268-76 overall)
    • In between, he spent one season as an assistant under Eddie Biedenbach at Davidson
  • Served as the head coach at Davidson from 1989-2022, winning 634 games and going to ten NCAA Tournaments and eight NITs
    • His tenure was highlighted by a 2008 run to the Elite Eight behind star player and future NBA MVP Stephen Curry
    • Along the way, McKillop claimed fifteen regular season conference titles (2x in the A-10 and 13x in the SoCon) and was named conference coach of the year eleven times (2x A-10 and 9x SoCon)
    • In June 2022, McKillop announced his retirement after 33 seasons at the helm; turned the program over to son, Matt
  • Along with his wife, Cathy, has one daughter and two sons
