More details about the $1,702 stimulus checks in April
Two financial benefits have been combined to make up the $1,702 stimulus payment: the annual Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend and a one-time energy relief check.
To make up the $1,702 payment for 20225:
- $1,403.83 will come the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)
- $298.17 come from a one-time energy assistance payment
This year, there is a 30% increase over the previous year’s PFD distribution. This $1,702 PFD payment is funded by revenues from the state’s oil and natural resource income which is generally the wealth shared with eligible residents. The Alaska Permanent Fund was established in 1976 with the intention of preserving oil wealth for future generations while still using the oil reserves to offer current economic support.
Approximately 60,000 Alaskans will be helped with this year’s increased amount especially since the costs of utilities have been increasing. For most households in Alaska, the financial assistance can be quite the financial lifeline.
The $1,702 payment dates
According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, payment dates are dependent on when a citizen’s application was approved and the payment’s current eligibility status. As per the payment schedule released by the Alaska Department of Revenue, citizens will receive payments on the following dates:
- April 3, 2025: Direct deposit for eligible applicants who applied early and had no issues with their documentation.
- April 17, 2025: For claims that reached “Eligible-Unpaid” status by April 9.
- May 15, 2025: For claims that were in “Eligible-Unpaid” status as of May 7.
For those citizens who submitted their applications and selected direct deposits, funds will appear in their bank accounts on the corresponding date. Citizens still waiting need to ensure that they verify their application status by signing into the myPFD portal on the Alaska Department of Revenue’s website.
All applicants are advised to monitor their status regularly. Applicants with an application status that reads, “Eligible-Not Paid” but who still have not received their payments will need to contact the Department of Revenue for further assistance.
The $1,702 stimulus payments do provide timely relief and show the ongoing importance of the Permanent Fund providing support for residents who experience fluctuating economic conditions. Certain states do ensure that citizens are well cared for and California is yet another state that has reopened a program and is thus offering $725 more for citizens in April.
