America East Player of the Year

The America East Conference has awarded America East Player of the Year honors every season since 1979-80. Three players have won the award three times each, the most recent being Stony Brook‘s Jameel Warney (2014-16). Vermont is the program with the most winners (fifteen), followed by Stony Brook, Boston University and Northeastern (five each).
The conference was originally founded as the ten-member, men’s basketball-only Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North in 1979. Throughout its history, the conference has seen a number of membership changes – only three charter members (Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont) have remained. In 1988, upon becoming an all-sports conference, the name was changed to the North Atlantic Conference. The final name change came in 1996 and five of the nine current full members have joined since 2001. All full member schools are located in the Northeast and the conference is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. See also: America East Coach of the Year
