  • Transferred to Southeastern Louisiana in 2001, playing three seasons under head coach Billy Kennedy
    • Earned All-Southland honors each of his three seasons with the Lions
  • Started his coaching career in 2006, spending five years (three as a full-time assistant) on Kennedy‘s staff at Murray State
  • Took a job as director of player development at Georgia Tech under head coach Brian Gregory in 2011
  • A year later joined Doug Wojcik‘s staff at College of Charleston, spending one year as an assistant and one as associate HC
  • Reunited with Kennedy in 2014, working as an assistant at Texas A&M for four seasons
    • During his tenure at TAMU, was a part of two NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances
  • Returned to his home state in 2018 to become an assistant on Tom Crean‘s staff at Georgia
  • Hired in April 2019 to become the new head coach at Kennesaw State, his first head coaching opportunity
    • After getting just one and five wins in his first two seasons, respectively, Abdur-Rahim led the Owls to their first-ever winning season, 20+ win season and ASUN title since moving up to the Division I level; he was named 2023 ASUN COY and won the 2023 Hugh Durham Award as the nation’s top mid-major head coach
    • The Owls went on to win the ASUN Tournament to reach the D-I NCAA Tournament for the first time ever
  • Hired in March 2023 to be the next head coach of the South Florida Bulls in the AAC
    • In his first year at the helm, Abdur-Rahim led the Bulls to their first-ever AAC regular season title, and first title in any league since 2000; they won 25 games, appeared in the NIT and AAR was named 2024 AAC COY
