The Canelo-Crawford fight still has no venue as the Sept. 13 date approaches

Richardson Hitchins and George Kambosos to clash on Sunday

Jai Opetaia stops Claudio Squeo with KO in fifth-round

Andy Cruz, a boxer who does not take “losing” as an answer. A man who will push, kick, and punch until he gets his opponent down. And guess what? That is exactly what fans love to witness, and that is why he is respected and loved, because he always understands his assignment as an aspiring champion in the world of boxing. The energy levels in every boxing game are always different, but I can tell you that this one was a different one, and the energy levels were high. At times, two players might not perform to the fullest, while others are dangerously fighting and oozing an atmosphere that just makes the crowd cheer loudly.

Andy Cruz did not let defeat come close to him

The momentum started building up, and we saw that Andy Cruz’s opponent was not having it. He tried to be strong; he fought back, but the odds were very much against him. One of the players is just naturally good. He just effortlessly does it; he can master and learn the weaknesses of his opponent, and somehow, he is able to find his way.

The interesting part is that fans sort of knew how this fight was going to turn out. But here is the thing: there have been a lot of surprises in boxing; the champion whom you believe will win can lose. Therefore, it is always good to have a neutral opinion or perspective. However, being neutral did not really work in this instance because Andy Cruz had other plans.

Hironori Mishiro was destroyed by Andy Cruz in the IBF elimination match

It was an intense fight, I have to tell you that. It started very normally. See, that is the thing and maybe the secret. To save some energy and power, players often start very slowly, and as the rounds go by, they intensify their role, and before we know it, the opponent is knocked down. That is exactly what happened with Andy and Hironori.

This is how the fight went down

  • The first and second rounds were meant to weaken Cruz’s opponent. A chance to understand how he plays and where to strike.
  • In round three, Mishiro was knocked down twice. His fall was evidence that Andy Cruz is not joking anymore.
  • In Round 5, the man was finished, and the third man felt like it was enough and drew the bout to a close, making Andy Cruz the winner.

Andy Cruz was happy, and his level of confidence was shooting through the roof. It reminds me of a fight between Jai Opetaia and Claudio Squeo, when Claudio Squeo was stopped with a KO in the fifth round. It was embarrassing, yet interesting at the same time. Andy Cruz has shown to be a really good player, and his career is expanding. This is what he said after knocking out Mishiro,

“This is just another step on my journey to achieve my main objective, which is to become a world champion.”

Cruz’s bout against IBF titleholder Raymond Murtalla is next

This automatically means he is targeting the fight with IBF titleholder Raymond Murtalla, who obtained his championship after the retirement of Vasiliy Lomachenko. This would definitely be a match to watch, and if approved, we would like to see if the championship was worth the acquisition for Murtalla. Additionally, Cruz teased Davis and said, “Keyshawn, learn from your father.” The two have a really good relationship, and for sure, Davis can learn a thing or two. I mean, who knows? Perhaps Cruz can be the father figure and assist his ‘son’, like what Roy Jones Jr did to assist Topuria in the fight against Oliveira.
