- Alma Mater: University of Alabama at Birmingham (BA, 1991)
- After one season at NC State, played for Hall of Fame head coach Gene Bartow at UAB
- First coaching job was an assistant at South Alabama under interim head coach Judas Prada
- Returned to alma mater UAB in 1996, spending five seasons as an assistant under Gene‘s son, Murry Bartow
- Spent four seasons as an assistant to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati before being promoted to head coach
- After just one year, Kennedy returned to his home state for the head coaching job at Ole Miss
- Led the Rebels to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, the program’s first appearance since 2002; returned in 2015
- Resigned in February 2018 after nearly 12 seasons as the Rebels’ head coach
- Worked as an analyst for ESPN/SEC Network, from the 2018 SEC Tournament through the 2019-20 season
- Hired in March 2020 to return to his alma mater UAB as head coach
- Led the Blazers to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 by way of a C-USA Tournament title
