- Alma Mater: University of Mount Union (BA, 1993) / Chancellor University (MBA, 2006)
- Started his coaching career in 2001 as an assistant at Columbus State CC (OH), where he worked for three seasons
- Moved up to D-I in 2004, spending two years on Larry Reynolds‘ staff at Long Beach and then four years under Heath Schroyer at Wyoming
- Was an assistant under Chris Lowery at SIU for one year and then worked for two years at Ohio under Jim Christian
- Came to Tennessee-Martin in 2014, serving first as an assistant under Schroyer before being promoted to interim head coach in 2016 when Schroyer left for NC State
- Had interim tag removed before the start of that season, during which the Skyhawks would win 22 games and appear in the 2017 CIT
- Went 53-73 in four seasons as the Skyhawks’ head coach; tragically passed away in November 2020 at the age of 50
- Stewart was posthumously given the 2021 Gene Bartow Award, recognizing him for his overall contributions to the game and the impact that he made on his players, school and community
