  • Alma Mater: University of Alabama (BA, 2004 & MA, 2006)
  • The Alabama-native originally came to the Tide program as a walk-on with an academic scholarship, but earned an athletic scholarship starting with his sophomore year; played four seasons for head coach Mark Gottfried and was a two-year starter
    • Finished as NIT runner-up his freshman year then went to three-straight NCAA Tournaments, including the 2004 Elite Eight
    • Spent some time playing in both the NBA D League and the World Basketball League after graduation
  • Returned to Alabama in 2005 and spent the season as a graduate assistant on Gottfried‘s staff
  • Spent two years as an assistant at Jacksonville State working under head coach Mike LaPlante
  • Came back to Tuscaloosa as an assistant coach under Mark Gottfried in 2008, and the following season under new head coach Anthony Grant
    • Would spent 15-straight years (16 total) on staff at Alabama under Gottfried (2008-09), Grant (2009-15), Avery Johnson (2015-19) and Nate Oats (2019-23)
    • All in, Pettway was part of six NCAA Tournaments, four NITs, three SEC titles and two SEC Tournament crowns
    • Helped recruit and develop a number of professional players, including Collin Sexton, Kira Lewis, Herb Jones, Mark Sears, JD Davison, Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney
  • In April 2023, Pettway was hired to be the new head coach at Kennesaw State in the ASUN
    • After going 15-16 in his first year, the program moved to Conference USA starting in 2024
