  • Alma Mater: Marshall University (BA, 2005)
  • After graduating from Scott Country HS (KY), he spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy, where he played for Kevin Keatts
    • Started his college career at Wake Forest, where he played for a year and a half under Dave Odom and Skip Prosser
    • Transferred to Marshall, where he finished his degree and career playing for Greg White and Ron Jirsa
      • Was the Herd’s team captain for three years and was named Team MVP as a senior
  • Started his coaching career in 2006 when Keatts hired him as an assistant at Hargrave
  • In 2011, Keatts left Hargrave to work at Louisville and Hamilton was chosen to take over as head coach; led the program for six years
    • Tenure was highlighted by a two-year run 2015-17 in which his team went 90-3 overall and won the 2016 National Prep Championship
    • Was named the National Coach of the Year twice (2012, 2016)
  • Joined the NC State staff in 2017 when Keatts was hired as the Wolfpack head coach
  • Hired in March 2018 to be the head coach at Eastern Kentucky, marking a return to his home state
    • After winning 29 games in his first two years, Hamilton’s contract was extended through the 2023-24 season
    • In 2021, the school made the move from the Ohio Valley to the ASUN Conference
    • Hamilton led the Colonels to their first-ever ASUN title in 2024, which was also the program’s first league title of any kind since 1979
