Detroit fires Bacari Alexander after just two years

Detroit announced Monday that it would be parting ways with head basketball coach Bacari Alexander, a UDM alum that was hired just two years ago.

Alexander won just 8 games in each of his two seasons, but off-the-court issues this past year certainly played heavily into this decision. Chief among them was a 7-game suspension that Alexander served as a result of a reported verbal altercation win a player in practice.

Assistant Jermaine Jackson, Sr. has been named the interim head coach for now. In order to minimize the unrest within the program, AD Robert Vowels may decide to stay Jackson, who has a son – Jermaine Jr. – on the team.
