Barry Scott Collier
Born July 15, 1954
Hometown: Miami, Florida
Alma Mater: Butler University (BS, 1976) / Indiana State University (MS, 1977)
After graduating from Miami Palmetto HS, Collier started his collegiate career at Miami Dade CC
- Transferred to Butler in 1974, playing two seasons there for head coach George Theofanis
Started his coaching career after graduation, spending one year each assisting at Rose-Hulman (IN) and Seattle Central CC
Spent eights seasons as an assistant under Don Monson, five at Idaho and then three at Oregon
Moved on to Stanford, working for three seasons as an assistant under Hall of Fame head coach Mike Montgomery
First head coaching gig came in 1989, when he became the head man at alma mater Butler
- Won 196 games in 11 years, leading the Bulldogs to 3 NCAA Tournaments and winning the MCC title twice
Left Butler in 2000 to take over as the head coach at Nebraska in the Big 12
- Was two games below .500 during his six-year tenure in Lincoln, leading the Huskers to two NITs but never the NCAA
Following the 2005-06 season, Collier left Nebraska and returned to Butler as Vice President and Director of Athletics
- Has overseen one of the most successful eras in Butler basketball, including hiring of Brad Stevens and back-to-back trips to NCAA National Championship game
Along with his wife, Annette, has three children
