- Hometown: Jacksonville, North Carolina
- Alma Mater: University of Richmond (BA, 1989 & MA, 1991)
- Played four seasons at Richmond for head coach Dick Tarrant; appeared in two NCAA Tournaments and one NIT
- Was part of the 1987-88 Spiders team that reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen as a 13-seed
- Stayed at his alma mater for two years as a graduate assistant on Tarrant‘s staff
- Hired by Jan van Breda Kolff in 1991 to be an assistant at Cornell, then spent three years at The Citadel assisting Pat Dennis
- Was an assistant at Northern Illinois for five years under Brian Hammel, during which the Huskies made one NCAA Tournament
- Reunited with Jan van Breda Kolff for one season at Pepperdine before returning to Illinois to be a head coach
- Spent five years at the helm at D-III North Central College in Naperville, IL; went 28-46 overall
- Returned to D-I in 2004, spending one year at Indiana State under Royce Waltman and two at Tulane under Dave Dickerson
- Got another head coaching opportunity in 2007 when we was hired by D-I Independent Chicago State
- Went 39-53 in three years with the Cougars as the program transitioned into the Great West Conference
- Was fired in 2010 after going 9-23 (4-8) in the first year of Great West play
- Hired by Gib Arnold in 2012 to be an assistant at Hawaii, working in that capacity for two seasons
- Named interim head coach for the 2014-15 season following Arnold’s firing and went 22-13
- Taylor was not retained after the season and instead spent 2015-16 on Rick Ray‘s staff at Southeast Missouri State
- Headed back west in 2016 and spent three years as an assistant under Rod Barnes at Cal State Bakersfield
- Since 2019, Taylor has been the head coach at D-II Tuskegee University, a HBCU in Alabama
