The Big Eight Conference awarded Big Eight Coach of the Year honors nearly every season from 1957-58 through 1995-96 (with a few exceptions). The coach to win the award the most times (six) was Missouri‘s Norm Stewart, followed by Sox Walseth, Ted Owens, Billy Tubbs and Roy Williams (four each).
