The Big Ten Conference has awarded Big Ten Coach of the Year honors every season since 1973-74. The coach to win the award the most times is Purdue’s Gene Keady, with seven total awards. Purdue is also the program with the most awards (twelve), followed by Ohio State (nine), Indiana and Wisconsin (six each). The award has been selected by the media and Big Ten coaches together from 1974-1991 and since 2007. From 1992-2006, the award was selected by the media only. See also: Big Ten Player of the Year
