Bill Courtney fired by Cornell

After six years and a 50-95 overall record, Cornell head coach Bill Courtney has been fired. Courtney’s tenure with the Big Red was a rough one, as the he failed to finish any of those six seasons with an overall winning record and finished just one season with a .500 record in Ivy League play.

Cornell finished this past season with a 10-18 (3-11) record, tied at the bottom of the Ivy League. The low point was definitely the 2013-14 season, when the Big Red went 2-26 on the year and won just one conference game,

Courtney was a long time assistant before taking over at Cornell in 2010. Among his career stops were stints at Providence, Virginia and Virginia Tech, though his longest position was under Jim Larrañaga at George Mason from 1997-2005.
