  • Started coaching as an assistant under Mike Jarvis at Boston University for five years, plus one more at George Washington
  • Was head coach at Drexel for eight seasons, leading the Dragons to four America East titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament by way of three straight America East Tournament wins
  • Served as the head coach at East Carolina for six seasons, going 70-98 during his tenure
  • Took over as the head coach at New Hampshire in 2005, returning to the America East Conference
    • Struggled for many years to gain traction at New Hampshire but won 19+ games in three-straight seasons from 2014-17, going to two-straight CITs
    • Has not seen the same success at UNH as he had at Drexel, but is considered one of the most influential coaches in the conference’s history
    • Won his 400th game as a head coach on January 10, 2018, with the Wildcats defeating Binghamton at home
    • UNH declined to renew Herrion’s contract in March 2023; he finished with a 227-303 record over 18 seasons
  • Along with his wife, Maureen, has one daughter and one son
  • Younger brother, Tom Herrion, is a former head coach at both Marshall and College of Charleston
