Bob Richey taking over as Furman head coach

Bob Richey, who took over the Paladins as interim head coach for the CIT Semifinals last month, has been named as the new Furman head coach. Richey inherits a Furman team that went 21-10 (14-4) in the regular season under former head coach Niko Medved. Medved left the school to take over at Drake.

Richey is very familiar with the Palmetto State, having spent his entire playing and coaching career in South Carolina. He had been an assistant at Furman since 2011, coming over after four seasons as an assistant and one as associate head coach at Charleston Southern.

A graduate of North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC, Richey was also a prep star at Florence Christian School (SC). He led the Eagles to a state title as a senior and was named 3A Player of the Year.
