- Alma Mater: North Greenville University (BA, 2006)
- Attended Florence Christian School (SC), leading the team to a state title as a senior and earning Class 3A State POY honors
- Started coaching in 2006, assisting Barclay Radebaugh at Charleston Southern; promoted to associate head coach in 2010
- Left Charleston Southern for Greenville in 2011, joining Jeff Jackson‘s staff at Furman
- Stayed on after Jackson resigned in 2013, working with new head coach Niko Medved for the next four seasons
- Took over the Paladins as interim head coach for the team’s 2017 CIT Semifinal game after Medved took the job at Drake; had the interim tag removed in April, becoming the 22nd head coach in Furman’s program history
- Got Furman back to the postseason in 2019, earning a spot in the NIT
- In 2022-23, Richey and the Paladins won a share of the SoCon regular season title and won the SoCon Tournament to earn the program’s first NCAA Tournament bid since 1980; 13-seed Furman upset 4-seed Virginia in their opening game before falling in the Round of 32
