- Alma Mater: Furman University (BA, 1953)
- Played basketball at Mars Hills JC (now University) in NC and Furman in SC, coached at the latter by Lyles Alley
- Started his coaching career with a four-year stint at Palmetto HS in Williamston, SC
- Joined Press Maravich’s coaching staff at Clemson in 1958, spending four years as an assistant coach
- Took over as head coach of the Tigers in 1962, leading the program for eight seasons in total
- Went 82-116 overall, finishing above .500 three times before resigning in 1970
- Passed away in 2002 after a battle with lung cancer; survived by his wife, Bobbie Ann, and their two children
