  • Was an assistant for eight seasons at UNC Wilmington under head coach Jerry Wainwright before becoming head coach in 2002
  • Led the Seahawks to two CAA titles and NCAA berths in his four seasons as head coach before leaving for Wright State in 2006
    • Went 84-45 over four seasons at Wright State, including one Horizon title and a trip to the 2007 NCAA Tournament
  • Became the head coach of the Clemson Tigers in March 2010; is 241-177 overall during his time with the Tigers
    • Coached the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament in his first season as head coach, winning 22 games in the process
    • Returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 following a 23-win season in which the Tigers finished tied for 3rd in the ACC and were ranked in the AP poll for the entire second half of the season
    • Reached an agreement with the school in October 2021 on a contract extension through the 2025-26 season
