- Spent the 2006-07 season playing professionally in Finland and with the Bakersfield Jam (NBDL)
- Started coaching career in 2007 as a graduate assistant at Tennessee State under Cy Alexander; promoted to DBO a year later
- Spent three years as an assistant at NAIA Cumberland (TN) and then three years as head coach at Columbia State CC (TN)
- Joined Steve Forbes‘ coaching staff at East Tennessee State in 2015 and left for Illinois State in 2017, spending one season under Dan Muller
- Hired in March 2018 as the head coach at Tennessee State, a position he was also a finalist for in 2014
- Through five years at the helm, Collins is 63-87 overall with two winning seasons
- Along with his wife, Lakeya, has one son
