Canelo-Crawford fight set to be historic after winner’s bonus announcement

IBF orders heavyweight title to be disputed by Frank Sanchez vs Efe Ajagba

Jake Paul says he’s ‘the greatest boxing phenomenon since Muhammad Ali’

The energy levels between Canelo and Crawford are high. The two boxers are not stopping; they are showing each other what great players they are, and since the game is about two months away, you can already see how each of them is ready to devour the other. It will be a very interesting fight because man, they are hungry and boosted. However, that is boxing for you. It has to be aggressive, be it verbal or physical. That is how players’ confidence is boosted. At times, it is a strategy to bring fear into their opponents so that by the time the fight comes, they automatically win, and that is what Canelo and Crawford are doing.

Fighting the mind to win a physical battle

Mind tricks do the math. You see, for someone like Terence Crawford, he is squeaky clean, meaning he has never lost a battle; he knows and feels like he is the man that he thinks he is. Therefore, to keep that standard, he has to make sure that psychologically he plays it well to mentally pull Canelo down so that Canelo perceives him as a champion, and that automatically, Crawford will win.

This is a big deal of a battle; therefore, it is important for players to engage and try everything to prepare themselves. Everyone is looking forward to it. Here is the thing, though: Canelo Alvarez did not respond with a lengthy response when questioned about Terence Crawford. He simply grinned, blinked, and said, “Who’s that guy?” You can see the level of “I do not care about you” attitude going on there.

Canelo may not prioritise the crowd’s favourite fantasy bout

Canelo is showing us a side I never thought he had. In fact, Crawford has been praised so much that it has overshadowed Canelo’s confidence, but here we are, and we can see how he is looking at things differently. This fight has been called for since 2023. Now that it is official, fans and supporters are going crazy over it; you know, it is the talk of the town lately. Then there is Canelo, who could not even be bothered and is not as thrilled as the rest of us.

Instead, Canelo has been questioning the resume of a man who has never lost a fight. He is not teasing, or fighting, or throwing tantrums; he is steady and wants to study the mind and composure of Crawford. You never know, things could take an unexpected turn. Crawford has been the one who has just been, you know, saying a lot of things, such as,

“I’m just going to keep it real, I’m hunting him, that’s it. I’m hunting everything that he’s got and I’m going to take it come September 13.”

The passion in him is giving a situation where Julio Cesar Chavez wants to ‘end Jake Paul’s career’. He clapped back and said:

“The only running that I’ll be doing is running upside his head… and he’s got a big head too.”

“Who’s that guy?”: Canelo criticises Crawford’s standing

An ego bruise, that is what I would call it. It is now clear. Canelo does not care what fans have been saying about his opponent and how much he is a good player and has beaten down every boxer; he believes he is that guy, too. The tension is coming from all angles; I mean, even promoters Dana White and Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh have just participated in the whole situation, stirring up the energy, from the financial offers to the trends and all. So, to the unanswered question, “Who’s that guy?”, we will have an answer on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
