The Naismith Memorial basketball Hall of Fame’s first 2025 ordination has been reportedly leaked and made known to the public. Much deserving of the induction, Los Angeles Lakers’ Carmelo Anthony has been chosen to be part of the listing in the 2025 Hall of Fame. It is said that the rest of the list will be announced soon, with other well deserving players acknowledged. Looking at his career, game stats and position, let’s take a deep dive into the career of Carmelo Anthony, which is one of recognition and admiration.

Carmelo Anthony Career

Born on the 29th of May 1984, NBA legend, Carmelo Anthony is a basketball player with a career length of 19 years. With his NBA debut on the 29th of October in 2003, drafted by the Denver Nuggets, Anthony was chosen in the 1st round being the third pick and the third best overall. The 6 ft 7 legend has recently been chosen as part of the 2025 NBA hall of famers, and with his record, Anthony is a deserving and accomplished candidate for the hall of fame induction.

Anthony played most of his basketball career as a player for the Denver Nuggets and New Yoke Knicks. He then went to Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018, moved to Houston Rockets in 2019, in the same year signed with Portland Trail Blazers and finally the Los Angeles lakers in 2021. Throughout his career, Anthony was awarded 10 All Star teams and 6 All-NBA teams. He also won the title of the most scores in 2013.

The Basketball Hall of fame acknowledges the careers of the stars inside and outside the NBA, with Carmelo Anthony ranking high as a one-on-one player in college basketball. In 2003, he played in Syracuse, leading them to a national championship. The star has also won Olympic gold medals for Team USA in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

The Basketball Hall of Fame

Founded in 1959, Springfield, Massachusetts, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has been responsible for acknowledging the greatest basketball contributors, players, coaches and the referees. In the historical list of Hall of Famers, is players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal.

Reportedly joining the list according to the ESPN in 2025, is Carmelo Anthony who has been announced as one of the 17 Hall of Famers. The rest of the class will be announced soon at the Men’s Final Four in San Antonio. After hearing about his nomination, Anthony said, on his podcast, “For me, that’s it. There’s nothing else in basketball I can do … that’s the pinnacle, that’s the door…”

He further said, “… When you think about Hall of Famers who are already in there and the way they opened up the door for you, that’s a special moment. I’m going to embrace this. I’m enjoying this.” While Carmelo Anthony is the first to be called out, there are other notable players to mention who are up for the win. Among the 17 players, the basketball legend who is most likely going to join Anthony is the 2020 champion with the Lakers, Dwight Howard.

Anthony’s Stats and Position

In the 19 years of his career, Carmelo Anthony has played the positions of small forward and power forward, where he shoots right.  He has played for 6 teams, including the Nuggets and Knicks, and he has averaged 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 1260 games. In the NBA 2021-22 season, Anthony played 69 games for the Lakers, averaging 13.3 points per game, 37.5 3-point percentage, 4.2 games, 1.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game.

In the NBA 2020-21 season, the star was with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging similar scores as the 2021-22 season. In 69 games, Anthony had 24.5 minutes per games, 13.4 points per game, a 42.1 field goal percentage, 37.5 3-point percentage, 3.1 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game and 0.7 steals per game. These are quite outstanding stats.

Finally offered his time to shine, Carmelo Anthony is inducted in the class of the 2025 Basketball Hall of Famer. Choosing the correct star to be amongst the 2025 class of 17 inductees, the Naismith Memorial has acknowledged the great work Anthony has invested in his craft.
