  • Born in Indianapolis, IN and raised in Topeka; attended Topeka West HS and was 1994 Kansas HS Player of the Year
  • Played four seasons for head coach Roy Williams at Kansas, serving as a team captain as a senior in 1997-98
  • Starting coaching as an administrative assistant for Williams at Kansas in 1999
  • Became an assistant on Williams’ staff when he left Kansas for North Carolina in 2003
  • Hired in April 2017 to become the head coach at UNC Wilmington, his first head coaching position
    • McGrath was fired by UNCW in January 2020 after going 26-58 over two and a half seasons
  • McGrath spent the 2021-22 season at Cincinnati as the special assistant to head coach Wes Miller
  • Along with his wife, Kris, has two twin daughters and one son
