  • Hired in 1964 to be the head coach at Newport News HS (VA), leading the team for seven years
  • Next job was a one-year stint as head coach at Homer L. Ferguson HS (VA)
  • Moved back to the college ranks in 1972, working on Sonny Allen‘s staff at Old Dominion for three seasons
  • Became the head coach at Bucknell in 1975, leading the Bison for the next 19 seasons
  • Left Bucknell to become the head coach at alma mater William & Mary in 1994
    • Compiled a 69-94 in six seasons with the Tribe, winning the CAA in 1998 and earning an NIT berth
      • The 1997-98 team won 20 games, their first such season in 15 years
    • Retired from coaching in 2000, with 387 career Division I coaching victories
  • Woollum still lives in Williamsburg and serves as an analyst during W&M basketball radio broadcasts
