  • Had a decorated college career while playing at St. John’s from 1981-85 under Hall of Fame head coach Lou Carnesecca
  • Named Big East POY three times (1983-85) and AP All-American twice (second-team in 1984 and first-team in 1985)
  • Spent 16 seasons playing in the NBA, 13 with the Golden State Warriors and 3 with the Indiana Pacers
    • Played for Johnny Bach, George Karl, Ed Gregory, Don Nelson, Bob Lanier, Rick Adelman, Larry Bird and Dave Cowens
    • Had his number #17 retired by the Golden State Warriors in 2012
  • Won a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics with Team USA while still a collegiate player
  • Member of the USA “Dream Team,” winning gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics (coached by Chuck Daly)
  • Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball HOF with his “Dream Team” teammates (2010) and individually (2011)
    • Also inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as an individual player in 2011
  • Spent several years in NBA front offices, including five years as the EVP of Basketball Ops for the Golden State Warriors
  • Also served as an NBA Analyst at ESPN between front office and coaching jobs
  • Hired in March 2015 to be the new head coach at his alma mater, St. John’s
    • After a few rebuilding years, Mullin led the Johnnies to the 2019 NCAA Tournament
    • Stepped down as head coach in April 2019 with a 59-73 overall record
  • Along with his wife, Liz, has three sons and one daughter
