Texas-Arlington head coach Chris Ogden leaving to re-join staff at Texas
Chris Ogden, a Texas alum who previously spent 12 years on the staff there, has resigned from his position as UT Arlington head coach to return to his alma mater as part of Chris Beard‘s staff. Ogden was 44-47 in three seasons with the Mavericks and was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2019.
Ogden was hired in 2018 following the controversial firing for former UTA head coach (and alum) Scott Cross, who had been at the helm since 2006 and had won 21+ games in each of the previous three seasons. Ogden never won more than 17 games with the Mavs, finishing above .500 in only his first season with the program.
