  • The Louisville-native played basketball and baseball at Virginia, the former for head coach Gus Tebell
    • Briefly played in the Boston Red Sox organization but injury ended his playing career in 1948
  • Started his coaching career at UVA, spending one year as an assistant basketball coach under Tebell
  • Served as the head basketball, baseball and football coach at Madison County HS (VA) for 1950-51
    • Then spent one year as the head basketball coach at Hopewell HS (VA)
  • Hired by VMI in 1952 to coach both basketball and baseball, serving in both roles for three seasons
    • Was 24-46 on the basketball court, finishing below .500 each season at the helm
  • Left for Virginia Tech in 1955, coaching the Hokies for seven seasons and winning 109 games
  • Next up was a two-year stint at South Carolina, where he was 15-21 overall as head coach
  • After some years out of coaching, Noe was hired as head basketball coach and athletic director at VCU in 1970
    • Coached the Rams for six seasons, going 95-42 overall and winning at least 15 games per year
  • Worked as a sports radio host in Richmond, Virginia for some time after his coaching career
  • Passed away in 2003 at the age of 79 in Richmond
