- Alma Mater: Indiana University (BA, 1985)
- Indiana-native played for the Indiana Hoosiers under legendary head coach Bob Knight
- Famously guarded Michael Jordan in 1984 Elite Eight, holding MJ to just 13 points in an Indiana victory
- After graduating in 1985, immediately joined Knight‘s coaching staff as a graduate assistant and then full-time assistant
- Spent ten years as the head coach at Bowling Green, winning 156 games and one MAC regular season title
- Accepted the head coaching position at West Virginia in 2002, only to return to Bowling Green after learning of possible recruiting violations by people affiliated with the WVU program
- Hired in June 2007 to be the Director of Operations for Kelvin Sampson at Indiana
- Took over as the interim head coach for the last seven games of the season following Sampson‘s resignation
- Since leaving coaching, Dakich has worked in the media as a TV analyst and radio show host
