OFFICIAL: Dan Earl hired as the head coach at Chattanooga

VMI head coach Dan Earl has been announced as the new head coach at SoCon foe Chattanooga. Earl went 73-139 in seven seasons with the Keydets and was named SoCon COY last year after going 13-12.

“After looking at many great candidates interested in our men’s basketball head coaching position, Dan Earl stood out among an impressive group,” AD Mark Wharton said. “We conducted a thorough search process, but it was quickly clear that Dan was the best person to lead our program. He is extremely well-respected among his peers and comes with years of head coaching experience at our level. I look forward to watching him continue to build on the foundation of success Chattanooga Basketball has established over the years.”

Earl has made a lot of progress at VMI, a tough place to win. The Keydets are 29-28 over the last two seasons and participated in the 2022 CBI.

“I am honored and extremely excited to be the next head basketball coach at UTC,” said Earl. “I would like to thank Mark Wharton and Chancellor Dr. Steve Angle for this amazing opportunity. During the process, I really connected with Mark and the search committee, and I am confident that this is an outstanding fit for my family and UTC.”
