- Hometown: Clarkston, Michigan
- Alma Mater: Indiana University (BA, 2002 & MS, 2005)
- Played basketball for his father, Dan, at Clarkston HS (MI)
- Named Mr. Basketball of Michigan and was honored as a McDonald’s All-American in 1998
- Chose to attend Indiana University, where he played for legendary head coach Bob Knight and later Mike Davis
- Was a starter as a senior in 2002 when the Hoosiers finished runner-up to Maryland in the NCAA National title game
- Played briefly for the Gary Steelheads of the CBA in 2002
- Returned to Bloomington in 2003 to be one of Davis‘ assistants at Indiana, a position he held for two seasons
- Hired in 2005 to be the head coach at what was then known as IPFW (now Purdue Fort Wayne)
- Became the youngest Division I head coach (25) when he took over the Mastodons’ program
- Helped guide the program into the Summit League, eventually building up to a 18-12 (11-7) record in the 2010-11 season
- Left the school in April 2011 to become an assistant coach at Michigan State under Tom Izzo
- Was part of two Final Four teams and five trips to the Sweet 16 or further in ten seasons
- Returned to his alma mater Indiana in 2021, spending one season on coach Mike Woodson‘s staff
- Along with his wife, Blair, has two daughters
