- The Illinois-native started his career at Indian Hills CC (IA) before transferring to UALR where played for Wimp Sanderson
- Began his coaching career at his alma mater, spending three seasons as an administrative assistant under Porter Moser
- Followed Moser to Illinois State in 2003, working there as an assistant for four years
- Returned to Little Rock for one season as an assistant under Steve Shields; the Trojans won the Sun Belt that year
- Arrived at Iowa State in 2008 for his first stint as an assistant there, working for two years on Greg McDermott‘s staff
- Next up was a three-year stint at Houston (under James Dickey) and two more years with Moser at Loyola Chicago; part of the Ramblers squad that won the CBI in 2015
- Returned for his second stint at Iowa State in 2015, spending the next seven seasons there (six under Steve Prohm and one under T.J. Otzelberger)
- On the ISU staff for four NCAA Tournaments, including trips to the Sweet Sixteen in 2016 and 2022
- Hired in April 2022 to be the new head coach of the Cleveland State Vikings
- Has gone 42-29 through his first two seasons, with two CBI appearances (2023, 2024)
