- Daniel Hugh Nee
- Born June 18, 1945
- Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
- Alma Mater: St. Mary of the Plains College (BA, 1971) / Kansas State University (MS, 1972)
- Brooklyn-native played at Power Memorial Academy alongside future HOFer Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar)
- Started his collegiate career playing at Marquette for head coach Al McGuire, but dropped out after one year
- Joined the US Marine Corps in 1967; served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968
- Began coaching in 1972 at Red Bank Regional HS (NJ), following by a stint at Brick Township HS (NJ)
- Hired as an assistant by Digger Phelps at Notre Dame in 1976, working with the Irish for four seasons
- Became the head coach at Ohio in 1980, going 107-67 in six seasons there
- Went to the NCAA Tournament twice and NIT once with the Bobcats and twice earned MAC COY honors
- Left Ohio for Nebraska in 1986, coaching the Huskers for the next 14 seasons
- Won 254 games (tied for most in program history), went to six NCAA Tournaments and five NITs (won the 1996 NIT title)
- Fired in March 2000 following an 11-19 (4-12 Big 12) season
- Later inducted into the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame
- Spent one year at Robert Morris before becoming the head coach at Duquesne in 2001
- Went just 41-103 in five seasons with the Dukes, resigning March 2006 following a 3-win campaign
- Worked as a scout for the NBA’s Utah Jazz for two years, then spent one year each assisting Fred Hill at Rutgers and Pat Kennedy at Towson
- Became head coach at Division III Merchant Marine in 2010, going 52-51 in four seasons but failing to reach the postseason
- Got back into high school coaching in 2015, joining the staff at Gateway HS in Monroeville, PA as an assistant
- Also served as the head coach of the AAU club Basketball Stars of America
