  • Hometown: Aplington, Iowa
  • Alma Mater: University of Northern Iowa (BA, 1998) / Creighton University (MS, 2000)
  • Was a standout athlete at Aplington-Parkersburg HS; inducted into the IHSAA HOF in 2015
  • Played at UNI under head coach Eldon Miller; twice named to the Academic All-MVC squad
  • Moved on to Creighton after graduation, becoming a graduate assistant with the basketball team under head coach Dana Altman while earning his master’s degree in college counseling
  • Became one of Altman’s assistants in 2001, working with him for another nine years at Creighton
  • Stayed on the Bluejays staff in 2010 when Altman left and was replaced by Greg McDermott; worked for McDermott for eight more seasons
  • Hired in March 2018 to become the new head coach at Drake
    • Won a share of the 2019 Missouri Valley title in his first season at Drake, earning MVC COY honors in the process
    • Earned an at-large bid to the 2021 NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed, the first bid for the program since 2008
    • Returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2023 after winning the Missouri Valley Tournament crown
  • Along with his wife, Ashley, has one son and one daughter
