  • Alma Mater: Miami University (BA, 1955)
  • Graduated from Franklin HS (OH) and then played for head coach Bill Rohr at Miami (OH)
    • As a player, Hedric helped lead the RedHawks (then Redskins) to their first two NCAA Tournaments
    • After a brief professional career, Hedric served on a US Navy destroyer in Antarctica
  • Coached at Taft HS in Hamilton, OH upon his return to the States
  • Hired at his alma mater in 1960, spending six seasons as an assistant under Dick Shrider and four more under Tates Locke
  • Named head coach in 1970, leading the program to a 216-157 record over 14 seasons at the helm
    • Won four MAC titles and was named MAC Coach of the Year three times
    • Went to the NCAA Tournament four times, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 1978
    • Retired from coaching in 1984 to become the school’s associate athletic director
  • Inducted into the Miami Athletic HOF (1978) and Ohio Basketball HOF (2012); had his #86 retired in 1986
