  • Alma Mater: West Virginia University (BA, 2008)
  • Graduated from Radford HS (VA) then played at West Virginia for head coaches John Beilein and Bob Huggins
    • Part of the Mountaineers teams that went to the Elite Eight in 2005, the Sweet Sixteen in 2006 & 2008 and won the NIT in 2007
  • After one year playing in Hungary, Nichols spent the 2010-11 season working under Huggins at WVU as a graduate assistant
  • Became a full-time assistant in 2011, spending two years on Dave Bezold’s staff at then D-II Northern Kentucky and then one season at D-I Wofford working under Mike Young
  • Hired by Mike White in 2014 to be an assistant at Louisiana Tech, then followed him to Florida the following year
    • Spent six seasons with the Gators, during which he was part of four NCAA Tournaments (including a Sweet Sixteen in 2017)
  • In April 2021, he returned to his hometown and became the head coach at Radford in the Big South
    • Nichols was arrested for DUI on February 19, 2023; his older brother, Shane, an assistant on his staff, was named acting head coach following the arrest
