- Alma Mater: University of Maryland (BA, 1989)
- Played at Maryland for head coaches Lefty Driesell and Bob Wade, serving as team captain his senior year
- Started his coaching career in 1990, spending one year each as an assistant at Gardner-Webb (under Jim Johnson) and James Madison (under Driesell), then four years under Ron Bradley at Radford
- Returned to Maryland in 1996, serving as a Terps assistant under Gary Williams for nine years
- Was the head coach at Tulane for five seasons, going 68-84 overall during that tenure
- Spent seven years on Thad Matta‘s staff at Ohio State, one year as an assistant and the rest as associate head coach
- Worked during the 2017-18 NBA season as a scout with the Utah Jazz, coached by Quin Snyder
- In March 2018, Dickerson was hired as the new head coach at USC Upstate
- Is 55-97 through five seasons, but has gone 31-33 over the last two years with two postseason appearances (2022 TBC & 2023 CBI)
