  • Born in Seattle, Riley was raised in the Bay Area and graduated from Gunn HS in Palo Alto, HS
  • Played for Jim Hayford at D-III Whitworth in Spokane, WA for four seasons, earning all-conference honors every year
  • Hayford left for Eastern Washington in 2011 and Riley joined his staff as a graduate assistant
    • Riley has worked his way up the ranks at EWU, spending one season as DBO and six as an assistant coach
    • Hayford left for Seattle in 2017 but Riley remained on staff under Shantay Legans for the next five seasons; in 2020, Legans elevated Riley to associate head coach and that year the Eagles made it to the NCAA Tournament
  • Legans was hired by Portland in March 2021 and the later that week Riley was promoted to head coach at EWU
  • Hired in April 2024 to be the new head coach at Washington State, who will play in the WCC for the 2024-25 season
