- Alma Mater: Mississippi State University (BA, 2003)
- Played for Rick Stansbury at Mississippi State, where he was twice selected to All-SEC teams and played in two NCAA Tournaments
- Drafted 40th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Warriors and spent the next several years mostly in the NBA D-League; twice named D-League DPOY and had a brief stint in the NBA with the Nets in 2006
- Went overseas to play professionally for eight years, with stints in Germany, Italy, Bosnia, Ukraine and Poland
- Zimmerman began his collegiate coaching career in 2018, spending two seasons as a graduate assistant at alma mater Mississippi State under head coach Ben Howland
- Elevated to Director of Scouting and Analytics for the 2020-21 season
- Left MSU in 2021 to become an assistant coach for Bob Marlin at Louisiana, spending 3+ seasons in that role
- Part of the 2022-23 Ragin’ Cajuns team that won the Sun Belt Tournament to earn the NCAA auto bid
- Named interim head coach in December 2024 following Marlin’s dismissal
