- Hometown: St. Paul, Nebraska
- Alma Mater: Nebraska Wesleyan University (BA, 1991) / University of Nebraska-Kearney (MA, 1995)
- Played at D-III Nebraska Wesleyan and also served as a student coach at the school under head coach Todd Raridon
- Started his coaching career as basketball and track coach at Elmwood-Murdock HS (NE), where he was also a physical education and health teacher
- Served as a graduate assistant at D-II Nebraska-Kearney and then as an assistant at Mid-Plains CC in North Platte, NE
- First arrived at Nebraska-Omaha in 1998, spending seven seasons as an assistant under head coaches Kevin Lehman and Kevin McKenna
- Took over as Mavericks’ head coach in 2005, coaching the team for its final six seasons at the D-II level and helped transition the program into D-I play
- Twice reached the D-I postseason with trips to the 2014 CIT and 2016 CBI
- Fired in March 2022 after back-to-back 5-win seasons; went 253-260 in 17 years at the helm (132-174 in D-I)
- Along with his wife, Vicki, has two daughters
