Played for head coach Bill Gibson at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania
Started his coaching career as the JV coach at Beacon HS (NY); later became the head varsity coach there
Reunited with Gibson in 1968, serving as one of his assistants at Virginia for three seasons
Spent four seasons as an assistant at Notre Dame under his longtime friend, Digger Phelps
- On the staff for two NCAA Tournament appearances and a runner-up finish in the 1973 NIT
- Was there for the Irish’s famous win over UCLA to snap the Bruins’ 88-game winning streak
Hired in 1975 to be the head coach at Stanford, leading the Cardinal for seven seasons
- Went 70-118 overall and earned Pac-8 COY honors in his first season
- Did not reach the postseason, finishing below-.500 in each year at the helm
- After a 7-13 start to the 1981-82 season, announced that he would resign at year’s end
After his coaching career, DiBiaso worked in commercial real estate in California
Passed away in 2017 at the age of 76; survived by wife, Shawna, and two children
