  • Played for head coach Bill Gibson at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania
  • Started his coaching career as the JV coach at Beacon HS (NY); later became the head varsity coach there
  • Reunited with Gibson in 1968, serving as one of his assistants at Virginia for three seasons
  • Spent four seasons as an assistant at Notre Dame under his longtime friend, Digger Phelps
    • On the staff for two NCAA Tournament appearances and a runner-up finish in the 1973 NIT
    • Was there for the Irish’s famous win over UCLA to snap the Bruins’ 88-game winning streak
  • Hired in 1975 to be the head coach at Stanford, leading the Cardinal for seven seasons
    • Went 70-118 overall and earned Pac-8 COY honors in his first season
    • Did not reach the postseason, finishing below-.500 in each year at the helm
    • After a 7-13 start to the 1981-82 season, announced that he would resign at year’s end
  • After his coaching career, DiBiaso worked in commercial real estate in California
  • Passed away in 2017 at the age of 76; survived by wife, Shawna, and two children
