- Hometown: Yorkville, Ohio
- Alma Mater: Ohio University (BA, 1981) / Xavier University (M.Ed, 1991)
- Started his coaching career in 1981, spending four years as an assistant coach under Skip Prosser at Wheeling Central HS (WV)
- Became the head coach at WCHS in 1985 after Prosser left, leading the team for three years
- Jumped to the college ranks in 1987, working alongside Prosser as an assistant at Xavier under head coach Pete Gillen
- Became the head coach at Army in 1993, leading the Black Knights for four seasons and overall record of 36-72
- Moved on to Loyola (MD) in 1997, coaching the Greyhounds for three seasons and a 32-52 record
- Returned to Xavier in 2000, this time as an assistant to Prosser who was in his seventh year as the head coach there
- Followed Prosser to Wake Forest in 2001, serving as his associate head coach for the next seven seasons
- Prosser tragically passed away from a heart attack in July 2007; Gaudio was asked to be the head coach moving forward
- Went to two NCAA Tournaments during his short, three-year tenure, and won 20+ games in his second and third years
- Was fired from his position in April 2010 after being eliminated in the second round of the NCAAT
- Joined the college basketball coverage team at ESPN in 2011, working for the family of networks for the next seven years
- Spent three seasons at Louisville as an assistant under Chris Mack, Gaudio’s first coaching job since 2010
- Along with his wife, Maureen, has two daughters
