- Graduated from Houston in 1994, where he spent one season as a student assistant under Alvin Brooks
- Next up was a stint as a graduate assistant at Division II Auburn-Montgomery (AL)
- Spent four seasons as the head coach at Fort Stockton HS (TX), going 71-49 overall at the helm
- Joined the staff at D-II Eastern New Mexico, working with the Greyhounds for two seasons
- Was the head coach at D-III Sul Ross State (TX) for four seasons, compiling a 72-35 record overall
- Won his division in the American Southwest three times, including an overall title in 2004
- Left for Texas State in 2006, coaching the Division I Bobcats for the next seven seasons
- Was 92-123 overall, highlighted by the 2010-11 season in which he won a share of the Southland title
- Since 2014, Davalos has been the head girl’s basketball coach at Westwood HS in Austin, Texas
