  • Alma Mater: Bellarmine University (BS, 2010) / Xavier University (M.Ed, 2012)
  • The Louisville-native is the son of Scott Davenport, the long-time head coach at Bellarmine and a former assistant at Louisville
    • Doug played four seasons for his father at (then D-II) Bellarmine; played in the D-II NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2010
  • Moved on to Xavier after graduation, earning his master’s and working as a graduate assistant for two years under Chris Mack; the Musketeers made the NCAA Tournament both seasons and reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2012
  • Joined Rick Pitino‘s staff at Louisville in 2012 as the video coordinator, working with the Cardinals for three seasons
  • First full-time assistant coaching job came in 2015, when he joined Dan McHale‘s staff at Eastern Kentucky
  • After one year at EKU, he returned to his alma mater to become an assistant coach with the Knights on his father‘s staff
    • Bellarmine reached the D-II NCAA Final Four in 2017 and after four-straight NCAA appearances the program began its transition to Division I and the Atlantic Sun Conference beginning in 2020
    • The Knights appeared in the 2021 CBI and in 2022 won the Atlantic Sun Tournament, which would have given them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament but they were ineligible due to their transition period
    • In May 2022, Bellarmine announced Doug as head coach-in-waiting whenever Scott decides to retire
