- Later succeeded Davies as head coach at his alma mater, coaching the Dukes for ten seasons
- Went to the NIT six times and the NCAA Tournament once, finishing with a 191-70 record over his full tenure
- Were NIT Runners-up in 1954 and then won the NIT the following season
- Inducted into the Duquesne Athletics Hall of Fame in 1965 following his tenures as a player and coach
