Presbyterian’s Dustin Kerns hired by Appalachian State

Appalachian State has found their new head basketball coach in Presbyterian‘s Dustin Kerns, who improved the Blue Hose from 11 wins to 20 in his two seasons at the helm.

“Dustin is a highly regarded young coach who has worked with strong basketball programs and has done an impressive job as the head coach at Presbyterian,” AD Doug Gillin said in a statement. “He has a clear vision for success at App State and is committed to excellence academically, competitively, socially and for the well-being of our student-athletes.”

Kerns is a Clemson grad who also spent time coaching at Wofford, Santa Clara, Tennessee and Tennessee Tech.

App State parted ways with Jim Fox earlier this month after five seasons, during which the Mountaineers never finished above .500.
