  • Alma Mater: University of Alabama at Birmingham (BS, 1992) / Hardin-Simmons University (MA, 2005)
  • Played at UAB for Hall of Fame head coach Gene Bartow, helping the Blazers go to two NCAA Tournaments and one NIT
    • Spent a couple years playing professionally in Taipei, Taiwan in the Asian Professional Basketball Association
  • Started his coaching career in 1996 as an assistant under Jeff Rekeweg at NAIA Saint Francis in his hometown of Fort Wayne, IN, then spent one year working for head coach Danny Nee at Robert Morris
  • Spent seven years as the head coach at Division III Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, TX
    • Went 78-103 during his tenure, coaching two D-III All-Americans and graduating 100% of his players
  • Returned to Division I in 2008, spending the next three seasons as an assistant on Sean Woods‘ staff at Mississippi Valley State
  • Became a head coach again in 2011, leading D-III North Park (outside Chicago) for one season
  • Hired back onto Woods‘ staff as associate head coach at Morehead State, a position he held for five seasons (including part of one season under head coach Preston Spradlin)
  • Arrived at Alabama A&M in 2017 as the associate head coach under new head coach Donnie Marsh
    • Marsh resigned at the end of the season and Howard was named interim head coach for the 2018-19 campaign
    • In March 2019, Howard had the “interim” tag removed and was officially hired as the Bulldogs’ head coach
    • Went 31-76 over four total seasons at the helm and was let go in March 2022
  • Spent the 2022-23 seasons as an assistant on Sean Woods‘ staff at Southern
  • Along with his wife, Nicole, has one daughter
