- Played at D-II Georgia College, helping lead the Bobcats to a conference title and Elite Eight run as a senior
- Started coaching in 2002 as an assistant to Pat Dennis at The Citadel
- Joined Gregg Marshall‘s staff at Winthrop in 2004 and followed him to Wichita State three years later
- Was an assistant for four years under Brad Brownell at Clemson before returning home as the College of Charleston head coach in 2014
- After winning just 9 games in his first year, Grant led the Cougars to the 2017 NIT with a 25-win third season
- In his fourth season, Grant led the team to a share of the CAA title and a NCAA berth by way of a CAA Tournament crown
- In March 2021, Grant was hired to be the next head coach at Boston College in the ACC
