- Alma Mater: St. Lawrence University (BA, 1981)
- An Upstate New York-native, Davis played basketball at D-III St. Lawrence in Canton, NY
- Spent twelve years as an assistant at Navy under head coaches Pete Herrmann (1986-92) and Don DeVoe (1992-98)
- Hired in 1998 to be the head coach at Colgate; went 163-214 over thirteen seasons at the helm
- Never reached the postseason but finished .500 or better on five occasions
- Fired in 2011 following a 7-23 season, the worst record of his tenure and a third-straight losing season
- After some time away, Davis became an assistant under Doug Wojcik at Tulsa in 2011
- Returned to Navy the following year, where he now serves as associate head coach under Ed DeChellis
