Tulsa hires Eric Konkol from Louisiana Tech as its next head coach

With 153 wins over seven seasons at Louisiana Tech, Eric Konkol is headed to The American. Konkol was announced Monday evening as the new head men’s basketball coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

The Bulldogs won 20+ games in six of seven seasons under Konkol, reaching the postseason twice – most recently a third-place finish in the 2021 NIT.

Konkol actually started his coaching career at Tulsa, spending the 2000-01 season as a student assistant under Buzz Peterson. Before getting the La Tech job in 2015, Konkol had assistant coaching stints at Miami (FL), George Mason and Tennessee.
